Missing Link Restored!
I want to show you something in the fall of mankind that might surprise you concerning intimacy with your husband.
In the beginning…
And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. Then the rib which the LORD God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man. And Adam said: “This is now bone of my bones And flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, Because she was taken out of Man.” Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed. Genesis 2:21-25
God literally “built” the woman to fit Adam perfectly according to the original language in this passage. He created her to be the helpmate for Adam meaning that Adam could not be all he was called to be without her and vice versa.
Lost…
Notice the verse that says, “And they were both naked…and were not ashamed.” This is where I want to focus our attention. Adam said that a man was to cleave to his wife. The word “cleave” means “to cling together in sex and permanent relationship.” Ashamed in this context according to “Zodhiates Greek Dictionary” is the absence of shame “related to the sexual nature of humans.”
Did you see that?! There was NO SHAME in Adam and Eve before the fall regarding the SEXUAL NATURE they possessed! This absence of shame was not only in relation to one another but also before God. That leads to the question of when did shame enter?
Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings. Genesis 3:7
It was after they disobeyed God and fell that they realized they were naked and tried to cover themselves. What happened that made them see they were naked?
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23
Before the fall, Adam and Eve were CLOTHED WITH THE GLORY OF GOD. When they sinned, the glory lifted uncovering their nakedness and allowing SHAME TO ENTER THEIR SEXUAL NATURE and RELATIONSHIP for the first time. And you see after the fall that Adam blamed Eve and Eve the serpent. Eve shifted from being a helpmate to being a detriment to her husband.
And found…
But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference. Romans 3:21-22
The righteousness we have through faith in Jesus Christ restores the glory of God in our lives. The more we renew our minds to this reality, the more glory we walk in (Rom. 12:2; 2 Cor. 3:17-18). As you learn how to walk in this RESTORED GLORY, greater FREEDOM SHOULD BE SEEN IN YOUR MARRIAGE BED. Confidence, passion, freedom, and an absence of shame should mark your sexual nature as a wife.
And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me. John 17:22-23
God HIGHLY VALUES THE MARRIAGE BED. He designed the intimate act to be a picture of Christ and His church.
For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones. “For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church. Ephesians 5:30-32
The full glory we carry inside of us as NEW CREATIONS and FULL OF THE SPIRIT OF GOD will not be revealed fully until the Lord returns. But I want you to carry this thought with you to the intimate act: Every time you have sex with your husband, you are prophesying the relationship of Christ and His church and covered by the glory of God!
