The Cost of Fear and Insecurity

We are going to continue to look at Jeroboam and how his heart was full of fear and insecurity on many different levels and how this affected the entire nation. Our decisions not only affect us, but those around us and our families and on down the line. You will see that Jeroboam didn’t believe the promises God gave him and instead, because of his fear and insecurity and his unbelief in what the Lord had promised, he lost everything. He could have had a kingdom like that of David’s according to what God had promised! Just because we have a promise from God isn’t a guarantee it will come to pass! God’s promises are conditional on our responses to them. What a lesson for us today! The cost of fear in Jeroboam’s life was his family line and kingdom. We must never make a decision based in fear. Romans 14:23 says that whatever does not proceed from faith is sin! Any fear is a manifestation of a lack of the revelation of love in that area. Our actions stem from either love or fear. We can combat this by learning to live before an audience of one. We must foster our relationship with the Lord and not let things we do for him, replace the time with him.
