One of the greatest challenges in the Christian life isn't just knowing what Jesus did—it's believing what His finished work means for us every single day.

Romans 6 gives us a powerful reminder that because of Jesus' death and resurrection, we no longer have to live under the power of sin. We have been given a new identity, a new nature, and a new way to live.

"So let it be the same way with you! Since you are now joined with him, you must continually view yourselves as dead and unresponsive to sin's appeal while living daily for God's pleasure in union with Jesus, the Anointed One." — Romans 6:11 (TPT)

Notice that Paul says we must continually view ourselves this way. That means our perspective matters. The enemy would love for us to define ourselves by our past failures, current struggles, or lingering temptations. But redemption tells a different story.

When Jesus died, sin's authority over us died with Him. When He rose again, He made it possible for us to live a completely new life—one that delights in the Father and reflects His nature.

This doesn't mean temptation disappears. It means temptation no longer has the final say.

Paul describes sin as a "dethroned monarch." What an incredible picture! Sin may still try to shout commands, but it no longer sits on the throne of your life. Jesus does.

Our responsibility is not to give sin an opportunity to regain influence. That means guarding our hearts, renewing our minds with God's truth, and avoiding situations that pull us back toward old patterns. Every day, we have the opportunity to answer God's call rather than sin's invitation.

The wonderful news is that we don't fight for victory—we fight from victory.

Paul reminds us:

"Remember this: sin will not conquer you, for God already has! You are not governed by law but governed by the reign of the grace of God." — Romans 6:14 (TPT)

Grace isn't permission to sin; it's the power to live free from it. The same grace that saved you is the grace that strengthens you to walk in righteousness every day.

So today, remember who you are.
